Sunday, June 26th - Rosemary MMVA After Party
Last Sunday was the Much Music Video Awards, which means tons of after parties. The good folks at Rosemary Films decided to host what turned out to be one of the best parties of the night. There was performances by The Arkells featuring Shad, as well as bowling and pretty much everyone cool was there.
I am currently represented by Rosemary so it was a lot of fun hanging out with everyone at the party and seeing it all come together so well. They had screens throughout the room displaying samples of all the artists they represents work which meant I got to see my own photos pop up every now and again.
I didn’t take a lot of photos since I was just there to have fun, but I also have a lot of fun taking pictures so I had to take at least a couple.
Here is a picture of my good friend Lights Poxleitner and her manager Jian Ghomeshi, as well as a photo of one of the sets of monitors with my photos being displayed.

Sunday, June 26th - Question about published work
Anonymous asked: How do magazines get ahold of your work? I guess, what’s the key to getting published, do you think?
This question is actually a little bit difficult to answer because it is actually quite different for every magazine. I’ve had magazines contact me because they saw my work published elsewhere and liked what they saw. I have also had magazines google a bands name and one of my photos came up so they decided to hire me for a future project. Other times my name is recommended by a manager or a publicist or the band themselves.
I think the key is to shoot a lot and make sure you are always producing the best work you can. It sounds so cliche but people will eventually begin to take notice. It definitely doesn’t happen overnight but the best advice I can give would be to not concern yourself with what everyone around you is doing. If you only make it your goal to take better photos than the ones you took yesterday, then you will always get better. I have been a photographer for over 10 years now and I still feel like I have so much to learn. It really is a never ending quest. The second you think you know it all is the second the guy behind you comes blasting past you and makes you look like a chump.
Just keep on shooting.

I dont think I really have one specific favorite band to shoot. I always have the most fun my friends bands. I have done a lot of work for Alexisonfire and Cancer Bats over the past 7 years and I always have fun seeing either of them. I spent a month on tour with Alexisonfire this past December and even though I photographed 15 different shows that month it never got boring.

Wednesday, June 8th - Ion Magazine feature
The newest issue of Ion Magazine is now out and it has a very cool 8 page feature on some of my music related photography. Im very excited to actually get a copy. For now I have these photos my friend Natasha from Vancouver sent me today.
